Are we moving towards a world where we will have to ask “how could so many people look so beautiful, but so similar?”

According to the Huffington Post, 91% of plastic surgery patients are women and only 9% are men. Majority of women are interested in breast implants and rhinoplasty, while men commonly ask for non-invasive procedures, such as Botox for a youthful appearance, or surgical procedures to combat common fat deposit areas, such as the stomach.

Cosmetic procedures are on the rise. Removing fat from places where it is unwanted and injecting it to shore up a sagging chin, buttock or breast is a big trend. Patients aren’t shy about what they’re tweaking

The surgery is carried out to reshape patients features based on a set of beauty standards, which are accepted by the cultural-societal perception of beauty of each geographical region.

What is Cosmetic Surgery ?

The aim of cosmetic surgery is to improve a person’s appearance.  Cosmetic surgery,  a branch of plastic surgery can be performed on any part of the face and body.

Plastic surgeons are artists. Most of us will paint or do something. We’ve all got some little outside interest but in essence our best canvas is the human body’- Dr Chris Snijman

Permanent Cosmetic Make-up is the newest concept attaining high popularity among the upwardly mobile women as well as men.  It involves the application of hand-held device which punctures the skin several hundreds of times per minute using a very thin needle and embed the pigment into desired location. I love how you have stated statistics and written sense in here. The topic seemed scientific but is so easy to understand… Thank you for making it simple for the non scientific audience.

Thank you Prisha. Happy to know that you found it simple to read. The aim of my blog.

  2. Plastic surgery is always thought to be a topic that no one should talk about. It seems that the people who don’t want to talk about it are the ones who are ashamed of having or wanting it. If you want plastic surgery for the right reasons then there should be no reason to be embarrassed about it, but if you are trying to hide it, there is possibly an underlying reason why, and perhaps you should really question why you are getting the procedure done.
You see so many girls these days being pressured into looking a certain way, so they end up going through traumatic procedures to alter their appearance just for the latest fashion trend, it’s very sad.

Thank you Mishelle. Plastic surgery as you said is a very painful procedure and always there are chances for it to fail.

I had Botox once and I wasn’t very happy with the result. I do think that if it makes you feel confident then go for it.

I personally don’t believe in plastic surgery especially for teenagers whose bodies haven’t even finished developing yet. If people want to get it when they are old enough to make the decision and have gone through their full development, that’s their choice.

Thank you Kim. it’s at the teenage time when one is bombarded with thoughts of beauty and looks. Especially a time when one blindly follows their favorite icon.

  6. Great article! I think celebrities and social media has a real influence on what people want to aspire to look like and if cosmetic surgery is for them then so be it but it is a shame when people go over the top.

  7. So interesting. I’ve always been more of the try and keep your skin out of the sun and hopefully you won’t need to fix anything major kinda gal. But such an interesting read.
