Bouncing breasts limiting you from doing exercise?

Bouncing breast | Sports Bra

If you are a female and have a little large breast, you know how it feels while running and doing jumping exercises. A study carried out by the University of Portsmouth says 72% of exercising females experience breast pain during physical activity. So what way out does science offer for females?

Why does the Bouncing Breast happen?

Blame it on Cooper’s Ligaments, the fibrous connections between the inner side of the breast skin and the pectoral muscles – these are weak. It is these ligaments to be blamed again for breast sagging or breast ptosis. When a woman runs her torso moves in many different directions at different speeds. Since breasts contain no muscle and have limited internal support, and they being just mass of soft tissue, they move independently driven by the motion of the torso.

Way Out – Sports Bra

When you hear sports bra, do not think it’s only for women from sports, it’s for common women like me and you, you can wear it at home too. Please remember that the damage caused by exercising or doing heavy chores without a sports bra or when wearing one that is incorrectly fitted is irreversible. The sports bra has come a long from the first time it was introduced first by  Lisa Lindahl and Polly Smith in 1977.

Story of First Sports Bra

Lindahl during her college days picked up jogging as a hobby and usually, she used to wear two bras or wore one that was a size too small to give her the support she needed mid-run. Lindahl always thought about creating a specialized athletic bra and she teamed up for this with her friend Polly Smith, a costume designer. One day she saw her husband walking around the house with an upside-down jockstrap across his chest. Voila !, the next day, she cut apart two jockstraps, sewed them together, and the first jockbra was born.

Sports Bra or an athletic brassiere is the bra specially designed for women runners. These hold the breasts comfortably and snugly to the body. A wide elastic rib band and elastic straps that cross in the back hold the brassiere firmly in place. The cups are not shaped but are preferably made of elastic material to pull the breasts in snugly against the body.

Most popular types of Sports Bra

Encapsulation Sports Bras

These bras have a well-defined cup to hold the breast and gives the best with perfect shape.

Racerback Sports Bras

These are perfect for women involved in running, rowing, etc. They can move confidently without worrying about bra straps falling off.

Compression Sports Bras

They ‘compress’ the breast against the chest and this holds them in place. They do not have individual cups to separate the breasts and hence won’t give perfect look.

What’s Latest about Sports Bra Recent developments include bra with tiny sensors and built-in actuators that alter the level of support the bra provides as required. Some sports bras today contain sensors that communicate with smartphones and monitor cardiac health.

Finally what matters is comfort. So go ahead and get your pair of Sports bra.
